Who we are
Alt Doula helps families find a doula and book a free first chat. It is run by Corina Perjan. Write to hello@altdoula.app about anything in this policy.
What we keep about families
Your first name and email, so you can sign in. The doulas you save. For each chat you book: its time, your due month, where you plan to give birth, and your phone number if you give it. Whether you booked the doula afterwards, and any review you write.
What we keep about doulas
Everything on your profile, your photo, and your postcode (families only see your area, and map pins are rounded to about a kilometre). Your chat hours and due months. If you connect a calendar, only the start and end of your busy times for the next 60 days, never what the events are. Badge files you upload, which only you and our team can open. Reviews you bring, and how many people viewed your profile or tapped your contact buttons this month.
What we keep about reviewers
When a doula brings your review, we keep your email encrypted until you decide, then delete it, unless you agreed to questions from parents. We keep a scrambled code of it (a hash) so the same doula can't ask you twice. If you ask us to stop emailing you, we keep that code on a do-not-email list. Screenshots a doula adds are deleted 30 days after the review is decided.
Who sees what
Families see doulas' public profiles. When you book a chat, that doula sees your first name, email, due month, birth place and phone number if you gave it. Reviewers' emails are never shown to anyone, including the doula. If you send a question to a past client and they reply, they'll see your email.
Why we use it
To run the service you asked for: profiles, bookings, reminders and reviews. To keep it safe and fair, for example checking badges and stopping fake reviews (our legitimate interest). Notifications only if you turn them on.
Companies that help us
Supabase stores our data in London. Resend sends our emails. Daily.co hosts the video rooms. Expo delivers app notifications. Stripe handles payments for Plus. Apple handles "Sign in with Apple". Each only gets what it needs for that job.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account, except: calendar busy times for 60 days, sent emails and notifications for 30 days, reviewer emails and screenshots as above.
Your rights
You can see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Delete your account any time in the app (Account and policies, then Delete my account), or email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
The website keeps you signed in using your browser's storage. There are no adverts and no tracking cookies.
