How reviews work

Two kinds, always labelled
Every review on Alt Doula is either a verified client review or a review the doula brought from elsewhere. They look different, and only verified client reviews count towards the star rating.
Verified client reviews
Only a family who booked a chat through Alt Doula, and who both they and the doula say went on to work together, can leave one. It opens two weeks after their due month. The family can change it for 30 days. The doula can report it but can't change or remove it.
Brought reviews
Doulas can bring reviews written on Google, Facebook, their website or elsewhere. They paste them word for word and declare that each is genuine, unedited, not paid for or incentivised, and shared with permission. We then email the person who wrote it, who can confirm it, change how their name shows, edit the words, or say no. Reviews show "Not yet confirmed" for up to 30 days while we wait, and are removed if the reviewer declines or doesn't answer.
Checks
A doula can't ask her own email addresses, can't ask the same person twice, and some reviews are held for us to look at first. Reviewers can change or remove their review later with the link in their email.
Reporting
If you think a review is fake or unfair, tell us at hello@altdoula.app. We'll look at it and remove reviews that break these rules, as UK law on fake reviews requires.
